This season we are launching a new editorial series featuring brick and mortar retailers, based on the heartfelt motto, "Stay Human, Shop Local." In an age of giant e-commerce corporations, price matching and overnight shipping, it is becoming harder and harder for small, local stores to compete & keep their doors open. The “Stay Human, Shop Local” mantra, coined by SnoCon founder John Logic, was established as a reminder of the benefits gained by shopping locally with actual humans.
The first mock up of the infamous Shocker Glove didn’t come to Dustin Goss, POW Founder, as a CAD file or a scanned sketch. It came to him as a fax. Seeing as the year was 2006 (rather than 1996), Dustin had to rummage around to find a fax machine to receive the rough sketch from POW Rider Austin Hironaka.
Had you stopped by POW Gloves last Monday, you’d have found a strangely vacant office. That’s because we were up at Alpental for some team building and to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and the resort’s last day of the Winter ‘13-’14 season.

After twelve feet of snow in twelve days at Mt. Baker, WA, the powder finally stopped falling and I got a call from Ben Gavelda asking if I wanted to head out on a tour of Montana. The timing couldn't have been better, and without hesitation, I accepted.
